About Lord Ganesha

Ganesh (also spelled Ganesa or Ganesha and known as Ganapati, Vinayaka, and Pillaiyar), is one of the sons of Lord Shiva and the Divine Mother Parvati. His brother is called Karthikeyan. Ganesh is one of the best known and loved deities in the Hindu pantheon of gods and indeed is the most recognized outside of India.

Ganesha is one of the most loved statues all over India. he is the first deity to be worshiped as he can remove all obstacles. he is the patron of arts, crafts, and sculptures. Ganesha is also considered as the lord of astrology, action, and god of the harvest.

Ganesha is given dominion over the Ganas, which is a general term denoting all classes of beings, ranging from insects, animals, and humans to the subtle and celestial beings. These various beings all contribute to the government of the Creation; everything from natural forces like storms and earthquakes to the elemental qualities like fire and water, to the functioning of the body’s organs and processes. He removes any potential obstacles and enables our endeavors to succeed.

Lord Ganesha is also the destroyer of pride, selfishness, and egotism. The important festival to celebrate and worship him is called Ganesh Chaturthi.
