Ganesh (also spelled Ganesa or Ganesha and known as Ganapati, Vinayaka, and Pillaiyar), is one of the sons of Lord Shiva and the Divine Mother Parvati. His brother is called Karthikeyan. Ganesh is one of the best known and loved deities in the Hindu pantheon of gods and indeed is the most recognized outside of India.

Ganesha is one of the most loved statues all over India. he is the first deity to be worshiped as he can remove all obstacles. he is the patron of arts, crafts, and sculptures. Ganesha is also considered as the lord of astrology, action, and god of the harvest.

There was once a king named Suddhodana and a queen named Mahamaya who lived in the city of Kapilavastu in the sixth century B.C. One day, as the queen was resting in her palace, she dreamt that a white elephant carrying a white lotus in its trunk entered her right side. Sometime later, a baby was born to the queen. He was named Siddhartha Gautama.

A group of astrologers predicted that the young prince would grow up to be either a great emperor or that he would turn his back on privilege and power to become a great spiritual leader.

After Lord Brahma created the cosmic universe, he realized that it, lacked forms, concepts, and orders. He felt lost and needed assistance to organize the universe, He decided to create the very embodiment of knowledge to help him with this herculean task, and from his mouth emerged the Goddess Saraswathi. She gave him direction on how to create order in the cosmos, as we know it. The sun, the moon, and the Stars were born. The ocean emerged and the season changed. The joyous Brahma then named Saraswathi - Vagdevi, the Goddess of speech and sound. Thus Brahma, become the creator of the world with Saraswati as his source of wisdom.
